Unclimbed Peak
The Himalayas in Nepal consist of a vast landscape of hundreds of snow-topped mountains. What many people do not realise is that a huge number of these peaks have never been climbed. This means no one has ever walked on a large number of the mountains within the Himalayan range or seen the views from their peaks. Where a mountain is deemed holy, then this will likely never be climbed. However, thanks to a relaxation in government policy, a number of previously unclimbed peaks are becoming available, enabling any 'trekker' with ambition and a reasonable level of fitness to be the first to explore and hopefully summit a new peak - 'to boldly go where no man (or woman) has gone before'. Often, it is also possible to name the mountain too!
This trip involves a little time in Kathmandu to acclimatise, purchase equipment and see the city before setting off to the mountains. Your destination will depend upon the particular unclimbed peak we are aiming for and will be the choice of the individual or group of climbers travelling or can be chosen by us. This will be discussed and agreed in advance in order that some reconnaissance can be carried out beforehand.
In common with all trekking at altitude, time for acclimatisation is essential and this will be built into the itinerary. It is assumed the peak will involve some climbing with crampons and ice axe and areas where the group is roped. This will be confirmed prior to the trip once the guides have made an initial assessment of the peak. Some previous experience is preferable and a good level of fitness is essential. There will be a team of experienced high altitude Sherpas to assist and guide you with the climb and a team of porters and low altitude Sherpas for the organisation of equipment, tents and food.
This trip is a great adventure and by its nature, unique, since you will be the first to experience a mountain that no one has ever climbed before.
