Throung Peak - Annapurna Region

Trekking group - Throung Peak trek, Nepal

After arriving in Kathmandu you'll have time to see the sights in this fascinating city and prepare for the trek with last minute shopping for equipment.

This is followed by a half day bus journey to Besi Sahar where the trekking begins. This trek is in one of the most beautiful areas of the Nepal Himalayas and along the way you'll see the magnificent Annapurna mountain range, which includes Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak and Machhapuchare.

The trek follows the same route as the Annapurna Circuit trek until it reaches Throung la Base Camp. From here, you move on to climb Throung Peak, which stands at around 6,000 metres and has only recently been opened up for climbing.

Snow-capped Throung Peak

The climb involves strenuous walking, and does not require technical climbing skills. The group will be accompanied by skilled Climbing Sherpa guides, familiar with the mountain and experienced in supporting groups on this kind of challenge. A good level of fitness and stamina is necessary for this trip. The views from the summit will be stunning and for those who have never experienced the Himalayas, this is perhaps one of the most beautiful areas to experience. It certainly makes the physical effort to reach the summit more than worth while.

The route then rejoins the Annapurna Circuit route and returns to Kathmandu from Pokhara by bus. For those who are not keen to travel by bus, it is possible to arrange for a flight, although this will incur an extra charge.
