The Walking and Climbing Company

Lobuche East Peak

This trip involves spending a little time in Kathmandu at the start to acclimatise, purchase equipment and see the city before heading for the mountains.

Lobuche has two summits, Lobuche East (6,119 metres) and Lobuche West (6,145 metres). Lobuche West is an expedition peak, whereas Lobuche East is a trekking peak and therefore does not require climbers to have extensive previous experience. However a good level of fitness is essential.

After a short flight to Lukla, further acclimatisation time will be spent initially in Namche Bazaar, the home of the Sherpa people. The trek continues from here along the route to Tengboche and its famous Buddhist monastery, to Dingboche village and to Kalapathar. This is the most superb place to view Mount Everest and will provide excellent acclimatisation prior to climbing the peak. Some areas of the mountain will require the group to be roped and you will be required to use crampons and ice axe. There will be a team of experienced high altitude Sherpas to assist and guide the group with the climb and a team of porters and low altitude Sherpas for the organisation of equipment, tents and food.

This peak is in a superb area and views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu and Thamserku, the ‘Himalayan giants’ will be possible along the way.
