Ghorepani - Poon Hill
The trip starts in Kathmandu with time to explore the culture of this fascinating city and rest after the journey. This is followed by a 30 minute flight or bus ride to Pokhara, the second capital of Nepal, where you stay overnight in Sarangkot, known for its fabulous sunset and sunrise. The next day you take a two hour drive to Birethanti, where the trek begins.
The trek takes you to Ghorepani through a forest of Rhododendrons, where you will rest and take in the scenery. We continue on to Poon Hill (3,153 metres) at a leisurely, but steady pace to allow everyone in the group to travel at their own comfortable speed and acclimatise. The views at this stage of the trek are of the huge Annapurna mountains, including Annapurna South and Machhapuchhere (Fish Tail). The enormous, snow topped mountains are an awesome sight and for many visiting the Himalayas for the first time, the views are quite breathtaking.
The trek passes through the villages of Gurlung and Dhampus before a one hour drive back to Pokhara. There are numerous lodges along the way and we can arrange accommodation in these if preferred to camping.
After flying back in to Kathmandu, you'll have time to relax and explore the many temples, shops and restaurants before your onward journey home.
