Everest region family trek and climb

Namche Bazaar - Everest region family trek and climb, Nepal

This three week holiday starts with free time in Kathmandu to sightsee and explore this fascinating and exciting city. There are many things for the family to do, including visiting the Monkey Temple, the Kings Palace and numerous Hindu temples and Buddhist monasteries. There are also many interesting shops and places to eat.

The trek starts with a short flight over the Himalayas to Lukla which provides the most amazing insight into the vastness of this mountain range. It reaches Namche Bazaar, home of the famous climbing Sherpas, and from here you move on to the monasteries in Thame and Tengboche. Along the way there are magnificent views of Mount Everest as well as numerous other significant mountains. The villagers you encounter on the route will be friendly and welcoming and provide a chance to sample life as the Himalayan mountain people live it.

Those wishing to climb a peak will depart for a few days, climb Island Peak (6,189 metres) and then rejoin the group. This peak is suitable for both first time and experienced climbers and requires a good level of fitness.

This adventure holiday of a lifetime is designed for, but not exclusive to, families with the purpose of allowing them to pursue their interest in mountaineering, as well as being educational for children. The minimum age for children is around eight years depending on their level of maturity.
