Dharamsala and Mount Kailash Trek

This two part adventure holiday starts in Nepal in the fascinating city of Kathmandu. You then travel to Dharamsala and Mcleodganj in India where HRH the Dalai Lama is now based and spend time immersed in the Buddhist culture. You can attend various talks and classes, explore the local sites, meditate or simply experience being with the local people. The guide for this part of the holiday has extensive knowledge of Buddhist teachings in the area and is Tibetan.

Later, you continue on to Tibet and the holy Mount Kailash. You will visit Lake Manasarovar, a beautiful holy lake attracting many pilgrims in their quest for enlightenment. The Kora around the mountain is a trek of about 4 days in stunning scenery and the journey to the mountain allows time for acclimatisation so you are prepared for the altitude. Many believe this mountain is the centre of the universe and the fact that it is close to the sources of four main rivers of the Indian sub continent only adds to its mystique. For Buddhists, on their journey to enlightenment they regard visiting this sacred mountain an essential pilgrimage. Whether this is your belief or not, the scenery in this area is simply stunning. The Tibetan plains are vast and you will experience the most wonderful panoramic landscape that is quite breathtaking.

You will have time to explore Lhasa, the historical centre of Tibet, visit Potala Palace and the Norbulinka, the former home and summer palace of the Dalai Lama as well as the Barkhor markets and the Jokhang temple. There is a magical quality about being amongst the Tibetan people. In Lhasa and in the mountains, this adventure holiday will be a unique experience.
